New Product Development

Concept Design
We have developed a number of concept designs for varied customers and applications including new styling for the construction, heavy machinery, oil and gas and other industrial sectors. We also build and test prototypes for our customers to validate the concept design. With our large engineering practice, creative, styling and prototyping capabilities, we are in a unique position to provide concept research and design services to our customers.
Detailed Design
Detailed Design is a core practice at Defiance. Our engineers have specialist domain expertise in industrial and heavy machinery and have a rich experience in varied skill sets to add value to our customers. Our engineers have expertise in industry standard tools such as Pro-Engineer, CATIA V5 and UG-NX for modeling & drafting, GD&T, surface design, plastics design, casting design, piping and tubing, electrical harnesses, tooling design and others. We follow design best practices such as parametric and master model concepts along with knowledge based engineering practices and custom templates, which allow customers to maximize the benefit of the engagement.
Virtual Validation
Defiance offers the full spectrum of analysis, validation and simulation services. This includes Static & Dynamic, Modal, Fatigue and Fracture, Thermal, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), non-linear analysis and ROPS/FOPS analysis.
Digital Simulation
Defiance can design and deploy a comprehensive Digital Manufacturing strategy which will help achieve the long-term benefits from PLM and function as a key point of integration between PLM and factory automation equipment. Defiance helps customers achieve lean manufacturing goals by re-engineering and optimizing their manufacturing processes. We provide manufacturing line design, process planning, manufacturing simulations, NC programming including nesting and PLC programming services. Our dedicated team for digital manufacturing has both domain and tool expertise in industry standard software such as Delmia and Tecnomatix.
Manufacturing Support
Defiance has extensive experience in Tooling and Fixture design as well as in building them and integrating them on the shop floor. We have set up new body shop lines and handled the entire process from tooling and fixture design to sourcing, installing and commissioning the line.
Sourcing
Defiance leverages its parent group’s manufacturing heritage and the extensive knowledge of the local ecosystem of suppliers and tool manufacturers. We have continuous screening of suppliers in terms of their schedule, quality, infrastructure and capacity to deliver the required components. We also have a pool of sourcing experts who ensure cost-effective sourcing of components as per specifications without compromising on quality.
Physical Testing
Defiance has the unique capability among engineering services providers to not only manufacture prototypes but also put the prototypes through a series of tests to validate the design. We operate one of the largest independent physical testing centres in the US at Troy, Michigan, which works very closely with our product design, engineering and analysis team based in our global delivery facilities in India.
Defiance has world class test equipment and expertise in mechanical durability testing and data acquisition. Services include component level testing, aggregate level testing, full vehicle testing, material testing, engine testing and DFM testing.
